What is tear trough treatment?

The area between your lower eyelid and upper cheek is known as your tear trough. Although this is a normal process as we age, it gives the impression of being tired and less vibrant.

A tear trough filler treatment is an instant and natural looking correction to hollows under the eyes. Eye hollows can develop from an early age, and can change in appearance; it becomes longer, deeper and more shadowed.
It can be caused by genetics, lack of sleep, stress, poor diet, and though the normal process as we age. Hollows under the eyes can make you look tired and aged even when you’ve had plenty of sleep and gives the impression
of being tired and less vibrant.

What does it do?

A fine grade hyaluronic filler is injected into the deeper part of the Tear Trough and this fills the hollow. This replaces lost volume and at the same time retains skin hydration. Once filled, the area appears flat and
the light reflects off the skin evenly correcting dark shadows. We find that Teosyal and Juvaderm seem to work best and last the longest for correcting eye hollows.

How long do the fillers last?

It will normally last between 6-12 months. Although each person is different, some will find it doesn’t last the full 6 months. This can be caused by smoking, fast metabolism, regular exercise or kissing.

Are there any side effects?

With any injectable procedure, there is the risk of bruising and can last up to 2 weeks, sometimes longer, however this is very rare. There may be minimal swelling and redness but this will settle within a few days. It
can also be disguised with the use of make up.
